 Professor

UVM Students - Censored 2018

I want to thank you for being such an integral part of my college career...

-University of Vermont Alumni, Class of 2018

...Before stepping into my first Dr. Rob class, I had never come across an educator so passionate about both his students and his community. Your ability to mesh those two worlds by transforming a traditional classroom setting into transferable, real world experience was undeniably the most effective way to teach and truly encouraged us to explore our interests outside the classroom. I owe many of the skills I gained in school (and continue to use on a day-to-day basis at work) to your classes, so thank you for that guidance and support.

–University of Vermont alum, Class of 2018

A University Professor since 2002,  I teach a wide range of interdisciplinary courses on entrepreneurship, global studies, environmental history, journalism, media, communications, and digital storytelling at the University of Vermont, Champlain College, and the New England Culinary Institute, as well as online courses with Northern Vermont University and Sacred Heart University. My biggest accomplishment as a professor? Teaching thousands of college and university students my unique approach to storytelling, popularly known as my Media Power Tools.

Media Power Tools   is my unique approach to storytelling. As a university-based professional story coach, I enjoy sharing my Media Power Tools with interested individuals and organizations, and offer online multimedia story coaching tutorials @ my YAK U learning platform.

As a cross-cultural global traveler,   I have organized university travel trips with my students and colleagues to Jordan, China, the Caucasus, Mongolia, Patagonia, and Nepal, embracing Mark Twain’s observation that “travel is the great enemy of ignorance.”
